cool! unfortunately though, there seems to be (at least) 3 tracks missing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhHZZwVZtlw (Intro, Kabuki Ending, Jingoro's Stage) i guess that'd explain the bizarre numbering on the mp3s. any idea?

the game has some chip tunes too, if you're ever inclined to hoot-ify those (if that's even possible... ¯\(º_o)/¯)

other than that, heroic; thanks!

EDIT: durr, actually only 2 tracks. jingoro's stage is in there. but i'm not too worried about drama stuff anyway.

I've removed all drama tracks (Intro probably fit here), the missing track numbers are mostly program tracks though (PC Engine isos are weird that way).

I believe kingshriek is the only one that knows how to rip sequenced music from CD games into HES files, you might try asking him.

Eh, why not...

It's great that the vast majority of CD games use the system card driver - makes for fairly easy ripping.

Thanks, that certainly was fast. I'll upload a basic playlist for the HES file in a few hours.

Easy as in DSF or Gameboy games using GHX easy?

Cause I've noticed quite a lot of CD games that only have one or two redbook tracks. Guessing rest is sequenced, and would be nice to have them as well.

ahhh great stuff. only 4 tunes, but nice to have all the same. you're both too kind!

this is a bit of a deviation from the thread topic, but it's something i've been wondering for a while - what are the pros and cons of HES vs. hoot archives? There seems to be a lot more games ripped on hoot than are available in HES, though HES is my preference due to winamp playability. or am i just completely confused?

You're mixing stuff up.

HES is music format for NEC's (and Hudson Soft's) PC Engine console.

Hoot is a music player, it handles many systems (including a replayer for HES files actually), but is mostly known here for NEC PC-88 and NEC PC-98 computer system rips (and other computers, like Sharp X1 and X68000, MSX, etc).

ahh i see, i've been going about it all wrong. i thought PC-88 and PC-98 were just two different types of PC-Engine. i didn't realise the PC-Engine was something else entirely. okay, i understand now.

Each of the L and R files is mono. When you tell vgmstream to play one, it finds the corresponding other, and plays them together as stereo. MAAGIX!

Now taking away the question, that's just ride.
