Re-encoding? by Habanero at 6:47 PM EDT on August 20, 2024
I don't suppose VGMStream supports converting back into the original game format, does it?
by hcs at 2:18 PM EDT on August 21, 2024
No, vgmstream does not output data in the game formats it reads. As far as I know the most extensive tool for encoding is VGAudio, there are many more for specific formats, as well as the official middleware or devkit tools.

TXTP files appear with 0:00 length by Yntec at 7:58 AM EDT on July 21, 2025
Hey, using latest version of vgstream Plugin in Winamp, when adding the files with extension TXTP (for instance, from NDS Mario Hoops - 3 on 3 from 2sf.joshw.info/m/ ) they appear with length 0:00 in the Media Library (EDIT - and the playlist editor, here's a screenshot: https://i.ibb.co/xt61JfLg/000length.jpg ). Otherwise, they show the correct length when they are played and play correctly.
Is there a way to add the lengths or edit the lengths manually so they're not piled up with tracks that play for less than a second when sorting them by length in the Library?

EDIT #2 - Right-clicking "view file info" on the Playlist Editor does update the lengths so they don't appear as 0:00, but doing the same in the Media Library doesn't update their lengths.

It happens due to a bug with tags (!tags.m3u) rather than .txtp themselves when using the media library. I'll fix it in some days.

Only shows time 0 in the media library for me (old playlist work), maybe it depends on some settings. Anyway report once the fix goes up.

Well, a new issue sprang up for me as of late... I have no clue if this is due to a new type of encryption or what, but in some of the recent Switch sets I ripped, none of the FMOD-type audio (fsb/bank) is playing for me, even with the latest update of vgmstream (on foobar, at least). Curiously, they DO play just fine when I convert them to WAV files, though. Is this just a problem on my end? I uploaded a couple example sets (with converted audio included for comparison):

Sample Set 1

Sample Set 2

^And just to clarify again, I've only encountered this issue with recent releases (all of my older sets play just fine). Thanks in advance for any assistance!

They look incorrectly ripped with wrong padding at the end.

IIRC some unity tools/forks do that, maybe try others.

@bnnm: Pardon the late response! Anyway, good news is that after fiddling with different Unity tools, I've got fsbs playing properly for me again! In fact, I already posted the amended versions of those earlier sample sets to the frontend. The bad news is that the .bank files still aren't playing for me, though.... and this even applies to non-Unity titles, I should add. I stress once again that this applies to newer titles (pretty much anything released over the summer), so I'm still wondering if maybe this is some sort of new encryption, after all? If not, I'm stumped. As an example, I've got the audio for the new HOTD2 remake here. Dunno what it is (if anything) I'm doing wrong here, but I'd love to know, because all other audio formats play just fine for me....
