Try actually reading beyond the first freaking page! I haven't actually been 'complaining' at all for a few days. Also, who the hell wouldn't complain about a site that can't even be bothered to send you an e-mail, and have the 'cheek' to say the e-mail you used to register "isn't in the database"?

The post immediately above mine (by TheUltimateKoopa) is a fairly good example of what not to do. This is why people don't like responding.... The worst problem is, you don't realize that it's a problem, which is why it's so bad.

In an effort to help you "rein it in a bit", I'll attempt to provide a few pointers:

Assume everything you type on the internet will be misinterpreted as offensive. Thus, in an effort to alleviate this (but unfortunately, you can't remove it entirely), always try to post things in the absolute nicest way possible. Sugar-coat it. Add some cream. And a cherry on top. Now, someone will still take offense at this, but at least it will be fewer people.

Second - use fewer exclamation points. People interpret exclamation points as either excited, loud, or upset. Honestly, shooting for "monotone" is probably your best option, on the internet.

Third - don't expect people to pay attention to dates/times. Even if a thread is a year old, and a new post shows up, most people will read the previous post (which is a year old), as though it was recent. If the previous post was a complaint, and the newest post is a complaint, people are going to assume that's all you do. Yes, it's a generalization, and a fairly bad one. However, it's very common on the internet, so you should come to expect it.

So, I'm attempting to be my best at not being rude. I'm attempting to help you realize there's alternative ways to say the same thing (using different words), without conveying anger/frustration/complaining. If I had my ICQ chat logs, I'd show you a conversation I had years back, where someone actually told me "That's the nicest I've ever had anyone ask to [expletive...] me." They were hosting a lot of VGM OSTs on their FTP, and a good 50% of them were ones I was looking for (and were somewhat hard to find, at the time I was looking). So I asked if I could download them. And yes, I was definitely asking to abuse their internet.... But I was NICE about it! So they let me get most of the ones I was looking for.

That "pointless" event was to illustrate that it's entirely possible to say/ask something terrible, and still have people appreciate you, and even respond in a respectful manner. Usually, it requires that you show respect to them in the first place (which, obviously, can be difficult at times, but is still possible). Hopefully, with so many people saying "This is a problem", you can start to realize that maybe, just maybe, it actually is a problem, even if you're unable to see it yourself. Hopefully I posted some useful advice. Hopefully I've even been a little helpful. Hopefully I haven't used the word "hopefully" too much. Mouser X over and out.

The thing is, before Lunar said I was being obnoxious, I hadn't been complaining for at least 2-3 posts. Like I said, we're on the 3rd or 4th page now. Not the 1st page.

That's the insidious thing, refer in part to Mouser's third point. There was nothing specifically wrong with the recent posts (besides the complaints about UG being somewhat misdirected as no one here can help you), but consider that we have very little contact with you. What may have been a brief outburst on your part weeks ago, completely forgotten 5 minutes later, is still a large part of how we perceive you. In this context, something like "None of that 128 kbps crap" becomes part of this narrative of you getting upset at not being provided with your every whim.

I'm done with trying to explain this. It's wrong of us to feel like you're a jerk because of something as vague as tone, but that's how it is.

Well, someone apparently got hold of the soundtrack (Vegeta on FFShrine), so it's looking good so far.

But admittedly, 128 kbps MP3s are really low quality, right? Well for 2011 standards any how. Or is that just me? I just feel that if you're in 2011 and you haven't even got enough space to fit a few thousand FLACs, stop using Windows 3.1 :D

Alas! the bitching is over! (hopefully)
by TheUltimateKoopa at 11:51 AM EST on January 1, 2012
Yeah... hopefully.
Now if only FFShrine didn't have 5 billion fatal/database errors every day.
by Lunar at 2:43 PM EST on January 1, 2012
if only someone would donate to ffshrine so they could keep things running smoothly. if only!
by TheUltimateKoopa at 2:00 PM EST on January 2, 2012
Exactly. And guess what it's doing again. Seriously, this is getting annoying. Seriously, why don't they freaking take it down and then fix it? Or is it that vBulletin is crap?

Before you say there are other sites, that's not the point. I don't just go there to download songs, I do actually post in there, as you see. I'm also waiting for specific members to send me things.

I accidentally deleted all my cookies, and forgot what I changed my FFShrine password to. I need it because assett1's apparently going to send me something via profile/visitor message. For some reason, whatever I type in that image verification thing, even if it's correct, it ALWAYS says it's wrong for some reason.

EDIT: I didn't exactly remember it, exactly, I typed everything I could think of that I remember possibly changing it to, and eventually it worked, so yay?
