Discord server? by mariofan12ify at 8:30 AM EDT on April 19, 2018
I'm having a bit of trouble with the Final Fantasy XV PC rip. When converting all the files into wav files with foobar, the files seem to want to quadruple in file size. I've deleted most of the car radio music which is just reused music from previous games and altogether the files come to around 2 to 3GB. But when I convert them to wav, it becomes like 20GB.
Can anyone help me solve this?

They’re mostly multichannel so, unless you’re using a DSP to die mix it stereo from surround, you’re gonna end up with massive WAVs

Well fuck. There's no way I could remove channels from the files are there? Because I'm pretty sure the other channels aren't that necessary.

There's a "channel mixer" plugin for foobar I found specifically for this reason. It does work, but it's really finicky to get the files to be output properly.

I don't really know how to install actual plugins, only components. Also, would the Looping Audio Converter work for these .mab files? Because when I open them in foobar, they automatically split into seperate tracks.

foobar should have a built in downsampler though.

Well, I am aware of that, but I what I want to know is if the songs would sound like they should in-game with all the channels mixed together. Because I've been listening to all the channels play at the same time for the tracks and it sounds... a bit off (to me at least)

The game is complicated with these so you can't really tell unless you play the game in its entirety. Hell, I'm not even done exploring the whole thing and I've been at it for a while.

bgm_bat_jd.win.mab, for example plays as-is even though it's surround. No channel muting.

bgm_bat_ifrit_magi.win.mab, is also surround (no channel muting) but also has subsongs. They each play separately depending on the event happening.

bgm_gardina.win.mab, on the other hand, layers the subsongs on top of each other depending where you are on the map. Each track is stereo and probably downmixed to stereo after layering.

bgm_bat_nifu_boss.win.mab I think does do channel muting even though it's also subsong'd.

This whole thing gives me a headache.

Ok those make sense but what about something like bgm_cg_prelude.win.mab? This only plays in credits as far as I know, so would any channel muting apply?
