- Any tools for .cwv files? by J2023 at 1:50 AM EDT on July 6, 2026
- Does anyone know of any tools for getting audio/BGM from the .cwv files in Rhythm Heaven Groove? I already know that they're not not supported by vgmstream (but someone on The Sounds Resource just started ripping and uploading some of the sounds from the game on the site).

- "new modizer" by yoyofr at 6:45 AM EDT on July 8, 2026
- Hi,
I'm modizer author, I'm working on a new app to replace modizer. It will be cross platform, focusing on iOS/MacOS/Android to start.
I plan to use a "Apple Music"/"Spotify" user experience.
Is it ok if I build a mirror of some of the joshw.info repositories (mostly the old ones up to PS2/DC) ?
I wanted to optimise the biggest packs (converting the sometime big streaming audio file to ogg)to have most of them fitting with ~100MB max.
The app will be fully opened source and reuse some of the adaptation I did for modizer / playback libraries, mostly allowing to look at channel data/oscilloscope and grabbing notes at channel level
- Ultima VII Part Two - Serpent Isle [PC] rip by Locke_gb7 at 9:31 AM EDT on July 15, 2026
- Hey everyone! I am trynig to convert .xmi files from Ultima VII Part Two - Serpent Isle [PC]
I have been trying to convert this to wav, so that it would sound like the intended OST original hardware (this is midi?)
so i have gotten these files
1.xmi (the music file — sequence of notes/events)
DEFDRV.cfg (driver config — tells MT32MPU.ADV where XMIDI.MT is)
MT32MPU.ADV (MT‑32 driver — loads XMIDI.MT and sends SysEx/MIDI)
XMIDI.MT (MT‑32 timbre bank — contains the actual instrument sounds)
also a GUI emulator
Munt – Roland (R) MT‑32 sound module emulator
Munt mt32emu_qt GUI Application Version 1.11.0
Munt Library Version 2.7.0
Qt Library Version 5.15.2
Build Arch: Windows 64‑bit
Build Date: Jul 23 2022
I also have Dosbox and Dosbox-x
I feel like I have everything right but idk the chain of covnersion to getthis done right.. any help would be ininitely appreciated.
Thanks!
- Help finding out sample rate of PS2 sounds by Nikanoru at 4:32 PM EDT on July 22, 2026
- Hello, everyone. First time posting here even though i have read this site many times over the years and i come seeking help with one particular issue i have
There's this PS2 fighting game (Goketsuji Bonnou Kaihou) i'm ripping voices from, i managed to get the files and play them, all fine for now
But, now i have an issue. Although the default sample rate of the files is 22050 hz, when the game plays them, their sample rate is totally different from the above one, as if the game is changing them on runtime. And their sample rate is not universal. Some attacks play around 18000-19000 hz while others are clearly around 19000-20000 hz, which makes my problem even harder to solve
My question is = Anyone here has an idea how to find at which exact frequency is the game playing those files? I would really appreciate any help here. Thanks in advance
Extra = This situation only happens with 2 specific characters. The other characters all play at 22050 hz

- Mario Party: Island Tour .sf2? by LouieG at 2:14 PM EDT on August 2, 2026
- From looking around, it appears soneek made a MIDI and SF2 rip of Island Tour's sequenced music, but both mirrors appear to be dead. I'm wondering if anyone still has that floating around?
- The Museum of Anything Goes music files by MoldyPond at 10:28 PM EDT on August 26, 2026
- I recently found out about an old obscure PC game called The Museum of Anything Goes. Looking through the files for the game it only has 3 songs, however they do not have any file extension and the few things I've tried don't load anything at all for them.
I've uploaded the files here if anyone wants to take a look at them, and any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
- Automate sequenced to streamed, is it even possible? by Lutarisco at 8:25 PM EDT on September 6, 2026
- Hello there :) I'm using VGMTrans to convert SSEQ to .mid, then Fluidsynth or Timidity to .wav, then OpenRevolution to .brstm. The problem is I can't find the loop start and end automatically. I'm aware VGMTrans knows the loop times, but I can't carry them over to the rest of the process.
It baffles me that I'ven't seen anywhere a tool or script to automate this process. It's like sequenced to streamed is a bridge no one has tried to build before.
I'm trying to convert the music of Animal Crossing: Wild World into .brstm primarily for personal purposes, and if I solve this I'd upload it right away.
If any one of you could guide me in the right direction, I'd be greatly thankful.
- Getting Back Into PS1 and PS2 Games – Emulation and Audio by maxhunter at 10:10 PM EDT on September 10, 2026
- Hi everyone,
I’ve recently been getting back into PS1 and PS2 games, and one thing I really appreciate about older games is how much character their soundtracks and audio have. HCS64 is especially interesting because there is so much discussion here about game audio formats, ripping, and preservation.
For anyone getting into PS1 emulation, I’ve also been collecting some basic information about BIOS files and the setup side of things. I put some of that information here:
PS2 BIOS Online
I’m curious what everyone here thinks about PS1/PS2 audio compared with newer games. Are there any PS1 or PS2 games whose soundtrack or sound design you think still holds up particularly well?
