- DS and GC music... by Elven Spellmaker at 9:39 PM EDT on March 25, 2008
- Hi,
I have heard that now there are plugins for GC, DS and some Beta Wii music. Are there any sites that have some of this music?
The list for in_cube.dll suggests that they are availiable, but doesnt say where.
Thanks very much, and yes I won't download massive amounts :)
Many Thanks,
Elven Spellmaker

- I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. Stupid Rare and their consecutive incomplete game albums. Give it a shot, it contains Windy & Co.!
You can either get it in the lossless, space-eating FLAC format, around 120 megabytes per file:
Disc1a
Disc1b
Disc2a
Disc2b
Disc3a
Disc3b
Disc4a
Disc4b
Or the compact and lossy OGG Vorbis format, around 70 megabytes per file:
Disc 1
Disc 2
Disc 3
Disc 4
Yes, OGG instead of MP3, because there's no such thing as a 6-channel MP3 as far as I know.
Is this even the right sort of place to post this sort of thing? Ah well, it's my first post - I do not yet have any credibility to sacrifice.

- Metroid Prime Hunters mini2sf oddities by CapComMDb at 11:53 PM EDT on March 28, 2008
- Hi all. I've been trying to figure out how the Metroid Prime Hunters soundtrack works for some time. They have some incredible use of dynamic audio going on here, but it's beyond anything I've been able to figure out with the latest vio2sf. Let me try to explain the dilemma.
For some tracks, the game appears to be making use of turning on and off audio channels or SPU channels to store multiple BGM in a single track. A good example is the Arcterra II theme (labeled 000d). This track contains both the Arcterra II main theme AND the Arcterra Puzzle Theme. (Or if you don't use Fileplanet, download just the Arcterra II theme here and compare it with the mini2sf.)
So basically, if you play the mini2sf file, you will hear BOTH of these themes playing simultaneously. (Incidentally, there are many other tracks that do this same thing, of which the Escape sequence - track 0034 - is another good example; also note that the game increases the tempo of this theme based on how close to 0 the timer is).
At first, I thought you could isolate the Puzzle Theme or the Arcterra II theme by simply turning on and off the different SPU's. However, this is not possible because the SPU's that contain the puzzle theme ALSO contain parts of the Arcterra II theme - it is simply impossible to isolate unless you dynamically turned on and off the SPU's.
At this point, I don't understand how the mini2sf file and audio emulator is working and how it might be possible to isolate each track. Is this a problem that anyone else has noticed in other DS soundtracks?

- Nezplug winamp help by nensondubois at 7:49 PM EDT on March 29, 2008
- How do I make it so when I play GBSs in winamp Nezplug++ I can select the track by pressing next/previous track in the main window instead of only being able to have one GBS file on the play list? This gets quite annoying fast.

- Embed DLLs in EXE? by Yoshinkeru at 10:46 PM EDT on March 29, 2008
- Perhaps not exactly related to video game musics, but you guys are among the most experienced programmers I know, so I figured this would be my best bet to get the answer I need.
You see, I've been working for some time now on a little project, utilizing a tool called Blade Engine, which helps in the creation of visual novels.
The thing is, the main EXE Blade Engine uses requires DirectX 9--or at least, just one of its DLLs, d3dx9_30.dll. For some time, it seemed I would have to copy this file into the system32 folder of each computer I wanted to show this on, which would become tedious, not to mention the fact that some computers I've encountered (here on campus) do not grant administrative privileges.
Recently I've found that it IS possible to somehow build the DLL into the EXE, but every program I've run across that actually DOES this (don't get me started on the dead ends) are all shareware, and once the trial version's done, that's it. And these programs are pretty pricey. I've already tried PEBundle, and Molebox, again, is just too much.
Now, don't get me wrong: I'll pay for a program if I think it's worth paying for. I even shelled out the $9.95 for the full version of Audiosurf. But I wonder, is it too much to ask for a freeware program, that just embeds (or whatever) DLLs into EXEs? PEBundle is the closest I've gotten, but again, it turned out to be a timed trial--and a short trial at that.
Hope some of you have some answers.

- Woah... It Seems Within Two Months, Nobody Really Cares About USFs Anymore... It's All Now Wii, GC & Other Streams... We Need To Get Back To USFs!!
-And Before Any Complaints Are Made About "Why Don't You Do It Yourself", I'll Say It Now; My Harddisk Crashed, So I Had To Buy A New One, And Now XP/Vista Won't Work, So I Have To Use Windows98 SP2, Which Makes It A Lot Harder To Rip USFs.
