Annoying "ding-dong" noise (Unused):

I'm guessing that's just a driver test.
- This Thread should be renamed by Josh W at 4:35 PM EDT on September 11, 2005
- Yes, it should be renamed. I have released 3 sets on this thread and i dont intend on stopping now.
Anyway i have been working on a few routines that have had very good results on finding the MusicSelect values in Roms, which i got the idea when ripping Mario Party 3. Anyway using the same method i have successfully located the routines in Mario Party 2+3, Mortal Kombat 4, Dk64, BombermanHero and Turok 3+Rage Wars.
However i have noticed something strange about the Turoks, is it appears they use Compressed Code, and cause of that i cant rip it - unless i find a clever way of trying to find out how the compressed code is read. I'll leave these to later. Also with Mario Golf, i found a supect location, but when i modify the value to other than what is supposed to be played - nothing happens. I will investigate this further.
MeanWhile.
MORTAL KOMBAT 4!!!
Is available here: Mortal Kombat 4 - Preliminary
Because it seemed to repeat for a long amount of time i set the alist count to 3000. I dont even think that is even enough.
Coming Soon...
Mario Party 2
Almost exactly the same code as Mario Party 3. Just translate the Xrefs.
Josh W. over and out
Im glad thats over

- Title change done.
Mortal Kombat 4: great!
and these routines you speak of, just letting you know I'd like to hear 'em

- Oh, and a warning, there's only about 9 MB left on the server right now, so be careful about what you upload. I'll be clearing out some temp stuff eventually.

- Those of you with slow computers shouldn't have a problem playing the MK4 usfs since it's quite obvious that the music is streamed (when compared with the PC version which uses CD audio) And in some tracks the loop points are very noticeable.
But you already knew this right? ;)
It currently uses only about 50 - 60 % cpu usage on a 333 celeron. :P

- Stupid CD by Josh W at 4:18 PM EDT on September 12, 2005
- The cd where i put my files on this morning has corrupted the last session so no files today, so no Mario Party 2

and these routines you speak of, just letting you know I'd like to hear 'em
However with my routines, all it is a simple cheat-type search - except using Jals.
What it does is trace Jals from specific regions and matches same offsets with different values withing a specified domain from a register (i.e. 0x1 - 0x100 in A0) and excludes all other ones called, and outputs the results to the console - usually with great results. Its how i did mp2,mp3,mk4 I will also try this with some new roms i pilfered.
And i will try and upload the files tomorrow - and check the CD to make sure that it actally works ;)
nd in some tracks the loop points are very noticeable.
Yes, it is very noticable. I might try and re-rip it using an even higher alist value to see if that helps (at least 6000)
From thread: Missing Yoshi's Story Tunes
Yes i had a saved copied of an very early test that i found quite strange when playing the usf before all the intruments/dlists were loaded that had some funky guitars and drums that i should get you to test out for me (i dont know what to look for since i havce do idea what it supposed to sound like)
And i swear that i have found more of what must be library routines that have something to do with __osDevMgr or whatever it is called, because i have come across a thread and other routines that have almost exactly the same code in it from other roms.
And speaking of Mortal Kombat 4, i think that it is an exact port from the PC version since i have found so many string references in it (since when does the N64 use XMS/EMS memory and other dos routines eh????). In my opinion it most certanlly does use streamed music becuase it uses the least amount of CPU time (half that of Super Mario 64 theme - 3% on my Athlon XP 1700)
Oh, and a warning, there's only about 9 MB left on the server right now
Ok, i deleted a few old files that have been replaced by newer versions and probally saved a few MB.
And i should check whether roms have been ripped before i try and do one

Bummer...I was so excited about this rip, I couldn't sleep last night, and I have been sitting in front of my computer all day waiting for you to post it. Now, I think that I am going to cry. *sniff*
Just kidding, I will be looking forward to downloading the Mario Party 2 USF set tomorrow. Can't wait. *resets countdown timer*
Thanks.

- Toy Story 2 analysis:
Does not use generic sequence format.
I did however find over 255 instances of something, so that might be sound data.
0x524e4301
there are 290 instances of that string.
I savestate'd at the title, and an RNC file was present at around 800bb220 in memory.
I doubt this is of any use, but now you're stuck with it.

- psst, the topic of this thread is not "UNKNOWNFILE's USF rips"
