To all Firfox users... by Tanookirby at 2:59 PM EDT on June 18, 2009
Anybody aware of this addon for Firefox called SkipScreen? It may be useful for a site like this where links to files on storage sites are frequently posted.
Need some minigsf help by Troika at 4:12 AM EDT on June 20, 2009
I want to get the music from Zoids Legacy, so I've tried ripping it with saptapper and running it through gsfopt, but gsfopt says it's an unknown format. I found this forum through google, and apparently the problem is that the game uses a different driver or something.

What should I do?
Is there an archive of sound format spec docs? by Dais! at 12:15 AM EDT on June 21, 2009
Or documentation for the creation/ripping of such formats? I know there's some NSF/e and PSF docs out there, but someone has to have gathered all that they could find together in one place, right?

Mainly I want to reassure myself that I'm not going to be able to magically create a Neo Geo Pocket (Color) format out of thin air and no experience.
Geist Song files by Vagonto at 8:26 PM EDT on June 21, 2009
Can anyone crack this for me?

They're in .SONG format. Surely there must be a way to play these files.
Conduit gcs/gcm files by pietastesgood at 8:34 PM EDT on June 24, 2009
The Conduit just came out today, and from the samples i've heard the score is going to be great. However, the game is divided into many small archives with the extensions gcs and gcm. I can see riff headers but the archives somehow seem to be compressed.

Here is a gcs file:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4GV7TBEL

Gcm file:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NO998ORQ

Seems like the gcm's don't have music though.

Can someone tell me if this can be decompressed?

Thanks in advance!
Cartoon Network Racing Music by agu fungus at 3:48 PM EDT on June 25, 2009
Hey, I'm trying to extract the music from Cartoon Network Racing (PS2), and I was wondering if psf2's and/or streams can be extracted from it. So far there is a MODULES folder with irx files, but I'm a noob at psf2 making (I'm using VGMToolbox). And if the game has streams, I don't know how to extract them. I'll be thankful for your help.
DSP Header by pietastesgood at 11:26 PM EDT on June 25, 2009
What does a DSP header look like?

Is it possible that you can a header onto a headerless DSP file? Does a header vary with the file or anything?

Thanks in advance!
GBA to MIDI questions by Elven Spellmaker at 8:51 PM EDT on July 2, 2009
I have used GBA to MIDI version 0.8.0 (If this isn't the latest version then a link to a newer one would be great! =))

There is an option to export the samples used, and I have created a SoundFont with all the samples in it. (Except the drum track which I need to work out how to do. =/)

However there are a few presets that appear as 44 byte WAVs and have no audio data.

Now I have just realised that they could be Hardware Generated Sounds and this program may not be able to extract that. (Sine, Saw waves etc.)

Is there a way of extracting/producing these sounds somehow for use in this SoundFont?
Could a flash applet play emulated music formats? by Dais! at 9:09 PM EDT on July 2, 2009
Recently I was musing over yet another aimless thought, concerning non-hateful ways to embed music into web pages. MIDI embeds of the Geocities sites of yore are of course straight out, conventional sound files embedded as SWF can be quite annoying and Youtube is no real solution at all.

Then I recalled that over at the Sonic Retro Wiki, quite a few pages had a simple mp3 player for playing music tracks on pages concerning soundtracks and rips. Unlike a lot of flash applets (cough youtube cough), having a large number of these embedded on a single page didn't make Seamonkey (don't ask) want to kill itself (or succeed in doing so). They also seemed to function quite nicely.

The applet is Dewplayer, a free little flash mp3 player you can just grab and put on your site, assuming you're actually thinking intelligently about the bandwidth such a move will cost you. This seemed pretty ideal for my theoretical, vaguely-defined purposes.

But it occurred to me then....could you make a flash applet that would mimic the effect of a music player such as Audio Overload or other non-plugin utility dedicated to playing emulated music formats? I mean, I have to admit I don't really understand what goes on between the hardware and software when I tell my system to play such things, but I assume it must be possible in some way or another.

So I guess my question is more....could such a flash applet be reasonably made by someone dedicated enough to make it? Something that could read an SPC or perhaps even an NSF or PSF-variant from a server and play it as if were an mp3 through Dewplayer?

The "reasonably" is the key part. I'm not asking if it's within the realm of possibility (I'm sure it is), or if it could be knocked together in a few days, but if it could be made by a reasonably competent flash programmer without driving them mad first.
Any Good Wii Homebrew Stuff? +How To SoftMod by wolupgm6 at 3:34 AM EDT on July 3, 2009
I recently SoftModded my Wii with BannerBomb and installed the Homebrew Channel (along with BootMii and DVDx).

I currently have Snes9xGx, VisualBoy Advance GX, FCE-Ultra, Super Mario War Wii And DOSBox Wii. Are there any other Homebrew applications that I should know of? I've checked on wiibrew.org, and there's not much there that I'm interested in.

Anything will do, but my preference is a N64 emulator. It doesn't matter if its in beta stage or is incomplete. I only have the Wii64 current build off sourceforge.
