- Okay guys, it's time to get serious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMZ8P4Tdm8g what are your thoughts on this? Sounds pretty nice! Orchestral even. I think we're going to enjoy Breath of The Wild's soundtrack very much.

- sounds live to me. Not entirely sure about the erhu.

- I recently found that Super Mario Galaxy 2's Yoshi drums come from Ueberschall Brazil Electro (most likely cut from Bong125 b-#756, but I could be wrong because I didn't hear the non-loop bongos). The drum loop in Beach Bowl Galaxy seems to come from Bong125 a-#755 overlayed with a conga loop, but I don't know which loop the conga comes from.

- @baggagelizard They recorded an erhu for MK8 DLC, would be weird not to for Zelda.

- Hate to spam but does anyone have any idea on where the drums are from in this game? It's streamed so it's a VST and it's in multiple tracks

- Not entirely sure what you mean by streamed = VST.

- He probably just means that it's not likely that a composer would rip samples from a VST -- which would be required for sequenced music.

- I don't really see the difference between sampling a VST and sampling a hardware synth, either way you're playing one note and recording it. With VST you don't have to hook up and record anything, just export the note/sound in your DAW. If you want that sound for your sequenced music you sample it. Would be weird if the composer went "but it's not hardware, so I can't use it.. oh well."
Besides, that's not what Alex was saying at all. Alex said that it's obviously a VST since the music is streamed. Galaxy has streamed music and is filled to the top with analog hardware gear.

In the case of sequenced music, I only had sample CDs in mind. Most VSTs I've seen don't allow you to export samples. Sure, it's not impossible to "export" them otherwise, but I figure composers may at least be discouraged if restricted to doing sequenced music. Also, I've never owned or used any music gear, so I'm not sure how easy (or at all) if hardware samples are directly rippable. I do have a vague memory of reading about, or seeing something being ripped (without recording) from some gear though.

Not sure what you are implying here. Did you misinterpret my previous post as saying that the Galaxy music was sequenced? I was merely comparing to sequenced music.
