I'm wondering which soundfonts these following games use, I know, I probably won't get the answer:

-Paper Mario: TTYD
-New Super Mario Bros.
-Super Paper Mario
-Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 (synth parts)
-New Super Mario Bros. Wii
-Super Mario 3D Land/World
-Kirby's Return to Dreamland/Triple Deluxe

Any other similar games

Logic is the main music DAW that both Nintendo and Intelligent Systems use, they mostly use the included factory instruments in their games. After just a few minutes I found instruments from New Super Mario Bros Wii and Skyward Sword.

However, you need a Mac (or bother with Hackintosh.)

Here's an example from Skyward Sword.

Also says on Intelligent Systems website that they use Logic, so that covers Paper Mario.

What about super mario galaxy 1 and 2, was the music made in east west?

Galaxy 1 and 2 has mostly a real orchestra, but I believe the synthetic orchestra samples are Logic's own as well.

@starerik: I use a Mac.

Then you're in luck! Get Logic Pro X in the Mac App Store if you can afford it. Or by other means...

Can someone help me out? I've tracked down most of the Golden Sun 1 & 2 samples (they're mostly from SC-88) but I can't seem to find the Flute, Fingered Bass, and String Ensemble samples in there.

There's some Korg Triton stuff you can hear in some Mario games (3D Land / World, Dr. Luigi, possibly the Galaxies), and I would be very surprised if nobody at Nintendo had one, or at least a direct successor. There's no official confirmation, but with Nintendo, it's usually the case.

I knew a friend with a Roland Fantom G who said he found lots of Mario sounds in it, and he also made some NSMB fan songs that sounded considerably accurate, so that may be something you might want to look for. I would be surprised if the orchestra samples from Galaxy weren't from it.

Other stuff I know Nintendo has are the Yamaha VL-7, Yamaha CP4, Roland Fantom X, Roland JD-990, Roland SC-880, Korg 01/WR, Emu Proteus and quite possibly the Korg M1, though no substantial proof about that one has been found yet. [EDIT: Hahahaha I'm wrong, I'll upload some stuff about the M1 sometime soon]

The thing about Logic is news to me, though. Thanks, I'll have to be on the lookout for that one.

EDIT: Would you mind providing some examples from NSMBWii, starerik?

Hi.

It's probably been discussed, but the "bah" in NSMBWii is a sample (I think) from Voice Spectral vol 1.

I think that many of the HAL laboratory games (melee, air ride, mother 3) are using the Roland JV-2080 with some JV-80 expansions instead of the SC-88, or possibly the JV-1010?; they share many waveforms, as many roland sound modules do ( I bought cakewalk music creator touch simply for Cakewalk TTS-1 to get my grubby hands on those roland sounds).

JV-2080's demo songs
JV-2080 and its expansions might have some of the sounds you are looking for, but then again, I may be completely wrong..

Also, of course, Kontakt is being used a lot in recent stuff.

I didn't know about the "bah" coming from voice spectral. Ill check it out.
