If it's the one with all the cats, it's the right one. Says in the description he composed music for Smash and Kirby Air Ride. There are also pictures of him with Sakurai, Junichi Masuda and Koji Kondo.

I might go ahead and buy that voice spectral vol 1 and 2 sample pack just for the heck of it, could use some more sounds. Any more sample packs worth downloading/buying used by nintendo? Should note specifically used in gamecube or wii games, not looking for synthesizers.

Incomplete list, will be updated/reposted whenever filled out. If evidence and/or comparisons are wanted, just ask and I'll provide.

Koji Kondo
-Korg M1 (Here's proof. Do note that the samples underwent some considerable compression for the SNES, though)
Used in Yoshi's Island, Link to the Past, possibly Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time

-Roland Sound Canvas SC-8850
Have no proof right now, but he definitely used it. The steel drums and orchestra hit in Super Mario World and the Square Lead in Super Mario 64 (Metal Mario) are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

-Other stuff I can't prove:
According to some photos from a now deleted interview, here's a transcript of some of his gear:
Roland XV-5080
Roland VP-9000
E-mu Proteus (3 out of 4 total versions made, not sure which those are in the photos)
Roland Super JD-990
Korg 01R/W (module)
E-mu Morpheus
Novation Supernova II (module)
Studio Electronics SE-1
AKAI S3200
AKAI CD3000

Credit to Nistro for the list.

Mahito Yokota
-Roland Fantom G
Sadly I myself don't have this one so I can't confirm it. I'm convinced he owns one though. It seems like he either goes for hardware synths or live instrumentation, nothing non-physical.

-Korg Triton
This one I can prove: he's used the StaccatoPizzHit for Rainbow Run (the SMB remix in SM3DW) and Trance/GarageKit for Champion's Road. Can't think of more off the top of my head, though.

Asuka Hayazaki also has a Triton (presumably LE), and she's used it for Pom Pom. The Detuned Sawtooth and StaccatoPizzHit amongst other things are what I can make out from the song, and also 2VCO Planet Lead, although it's apparently a LE-exclusive patch.

Whoever did Dr. Luigi seems to have a Triton too, since the Trumpet and Reed of Power patches are used in the title screen theme (I know some others used in Dizzy and Drowsy, but I can't remember them). Talking of which, I'm convinced Dr. Mario 64 used the M1 for some of its instruments - The Hiphop Bass and some lead were definitely found in Fever, though, again, I can't think of it.

Considering I'm just diverging off to a Korg Triton ramble, again, Jun Senoue used it.
The infamous dying cat patch in Splash Hill Act 1 (and Seaside Hill (Modern) is named Rezbo, the SFZ Brass ST is used in Casino Street Act 1, BrightPulseLead and A leadload can be found in Green Hill (Modern). He's used the toms in Trance/GarageKit (because he couldn't get Genesis toms, presumably) in Sylvania Castle Act 2 and Oil Desert Act 2, too. Finally, the X-Mod Raver patch is the lead found in Sonic Heroes' Special Stage theme.

...this ended up having no actual format whatsoever.

Listening to the demo it sounds like the Roland JV-2080 was used for Marvel vs Capcom 2.

I wish Korg and Roland would do VST versions of all their hardware.

Thanks a bunch for the list, Can.

Edit: Well, nevermind. Found M1 here as well as Wavestation which was used in Donkey Kong Country for SNES.

And while we're at it, HALion (either the latest or the version before) was used in Tropical Freeze. Fun fact: I introduced David Wise to HALion because he liked some sounds in my music.

Yeah, Korg has a Legacy Collection that gives you VST versions of the M1, Wavestation, Mono/Poly and Polysix. Roland has a Hyper Canvas that sounds reasonably similar to the Sound Canvas, as well.
I own a physical Korg Triton, but a refill of it exists out there (and it is, in fact, convertable to soundfont... If you have Reason), and a Kontakt library of the Roland Fantom X.
E-mu has a free virtual Proteus named Proteus VX: if you want it as a Kontakt library, though, there's one out there that's stunningly accurate.

I wish to own a Fantom G and JD-990 someday, though - those will get me so much further in this search.

EDIT: You recommended HALion to David Wise?! Hot dang.

I own Hyper Canvas although I haven't been able to use it since 2010 because I got a Mac then and it's not compatible with OS X. :( I miss it, but I got HALion Sonic which serves the same purpose of GM-ish sounds and has a lot more stuff.

Can you open SoundFonts? I'll upload a soundfont of the Roland SC-55 if you can.

Yes, of course, thanks to Kontakt. That'd be great!
