@MetalKnick That's not the same snare. I've actually listened to the drum kit used in Dynasty Warriors 2-3's "Againts All Odds" and the snare used in Fire Red & Leaf Green and I know for a fact that's not the same snare.

Here is a sample of the drum kit being used in Lü Bu's theme:

@XaikuTheMaverickHunter: I like that percussion sample. I only recall finding one sample from the Dynasty Warrior series, and it was from Funky Xtreams, by a now-defunct Japanese company called Inis (the library was also re-released by Sony/Sonic Foundry as "Techno Club Grooves", and there's even a bootleg/rip-off called "Peculiar Beats" by Inertia Pro). Maybe try to hunt down some of their libraries? I only have Funky Xtreams and unfortunately your sample is not in there.

@nisto i guess you dont think that was DMC4 sample that they used? Speed it up and add distortion through RMX. I still could be wrong
by Nisto at 3:47 PM EDT on May 4, 2017
Oh, sorry, peronmls.

I don't really know to be honest. Is the sample different on Stylus RMX? I also don't actually have Stylus RMX at hand, so I can't check. But yeah, since you say "add distortion" I'm sure it could be possible, since that's DSP, as I was suggesting.

Can you upload a recording of you replicating it maybe?
Re:More Koei Tecmo by XaikuTheMaverickHunter at 4:57 PM EDT on May 4, 2017
@Nisto Since it's a drum KIT and not a drum LOOP, I'm still betting money that it came from something like the Korg Trinity. After all, MASA has now been confirmed to have one, and it was released in the late 1990's (before Dynasty Warriors 2), so if the boot fits, then maybe the drum kit did originate there.

Does anyone here have a Korg Trinity, and if so, is the drum kit I'm looking for there, and if that's so, what's the patch number and name?
by Nisto at 5:34 PM EDT on May 4, 2017
@XaikuTheMaverickHunter: How are you so sure it's a kit and not a loop? Are the samples present in the game data as separate drum kit samples, or are you deducing it just from the "style" of the sample or something? (I've mostly been referring to the first part of the wav file you uploaded, by the way, should have been clear about that).

@nisto
https://www.mediafire.com/?v80p8w2nsf8o393

the one in track is kinda more random and im thinking it's possible they used the "chaos" effect module in RMX. maybe too bit of a stretch. idk

Listen to "Against All Odds" again. You can hear the exact same drum samples;

https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/dynasty-warriors-3/111-against-all-odds-ver.2.mp3

Compare to the example I extracted from Lü Bu's theme (which I got by separating the left and right stereo channels. The samples became most noticeable in the right channel for those first 2-3 seconds)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/13yewimiciij5nc/UNIDENTIFIED_PERC_7.wav?dl=0

And no, the music in all of the main Dynasty Warriors games is streamed, to my knowledge.
