@PokeMusic
It's actually from the SC-88 Pro, not the SC-8850 or the SD-90. I think the SC-88 Pro was used in the soundtrack because the STANDARD 3 drum kit that was used isn't included in the SC-8850.

BTW, I asked Go Ichinose what he used on Twitter, but he still hasn't replied.

I have a list of equipment listed here.

Roland JV1080 along with the Orchestra and Vintage Card.

FL Studio main program.

Korg Wavestation and Korg M1 legacy versions!

Roland Sound Canvas VST.

Edirol Orchestra, it does in fact reused some samples from the JV80 orchestra card and some JV80 samples.

Edirol Super Quartet.

Proteus VX.

I also used Audacity and a cable to record my JV1080
There.

Siren ample by OrangeC at 10:42 PM EDT on May 11, 2017
Some guy did a restoration of fear factory from DKC1 over at the DK-atlas forums. No way to register to ask a question about the siren sample he used here, right at the beginning of the track

Sounds like it came from korg wavestation but haven't found it so far. could be M1 but theres too many presents to try lol.

sounds like some type of military/factory alarm.
Thanks

Posted in the discord chat but I'll just add to the conversation here since it may as well be archived for reference.

NiGHTS into Dreams for Sega Saturn appears to use the Roland SC-88, at least partially anyway. You can listen to this Youtube video using an SC-88Pro (which didn't come out until a few months following NiGHTS' release, so they must have used the original SC-88). I've never gone through an SC-88 to know all of the sounds, though I hope to buy an 88Pro soon for myself. But there's a lot of dreamlike atmospheric sounds in the soundtrack I wonder if they really all came from this synth or something else was used in addition to it.

Policenauts clearly also uses an SC-88. Konami released a MIDI Power Pro3 disc of new renditions of the game's soundtrack using different hardware, but the disc also included midi files for a few select songs. Someone on Youtube put these through an SC-88Pro, and no surprise, it sounds exactly the same as in-game.

I asked the chat about Silhouette Mirage for SAT/PSX and someone identified at least the organ instrument in the track "Half and Half" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DFZp3SVGVo&list=PL6zFPfLZbcW9rBEXjeRn6G5vzwFme9YKJ&index=4) coming from the Proteus VX. I guess this was originally on one of the E-mu Proteus ROMplers? Would be nice if anyonne could identify more of this game's source, I've always gotten Roland vibes from its sound. The guitars are credited as being live performances at the very least. I'm very curious where the percussion comes from since I like the punch it has, specifically in the first stage track Pinch Me.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night uses a JV-1080 according to HaganeSteele on the KVR Forums (Google it), but he's not so clear on if it was used exclusively. The same Policenauts guy above used MIDI tracks from a similar MIDI CD Konami put out and put them through an SC-88Pro, but nothing sounds much like what you hear in-game, so if Michiru Yamane used anything in addition to a JV-1080, it possibly was something else.

If anyone can identify anymore from either of these games, let me know!

I finally found the clarinet from Ocarina of Time.

Sample: Clarinet
Number: 028
Source: E-MU Proteus/2 Orchestral
Date: 1990
Game: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Date: 1998
Console: N64
Song: Hyrule Castle Courtyard
Composer: Koji Kondo

The instruments we still haven't found are the trumpet, accordion (which sounds similar to this preset), trombone, tambourine, pizzicato strings, glockenspiel, oboe, fiddle, harmonica, pipe organ, saz, tuba and piccolo. I could remaster the soundtrack if I found the sources of those instruments.

The pizzicato strings come from Best Service Giga pack and one of the trumpets do as well. I can't remember what patches at the moment but I think I posted them a long ways back in this thread. I've also listed the tambourine sample in this thread somewhere. I'll try and look for them another time if you haven't found them by then.

I've also found the steel drums in Zora's Domain, they're named Stereo Steel and are from the Proteus/3.

@punk7890-2
I think the tambourine is more likely to come from a Proteus than the E-MU Emax, especially because Koji Kondo owns one.

It's important to point out that the Gigapack is just a compilation of previous Best Service AKAI libraries for the KURZWEIL/Giga format.

I don't know if the Gigapack includes all the samples from the individual libraries, so it's possible that there are other samples to be found.

@Ghignarda
Interesting, that explains why the Gregorian male choir also is included in Peter Siedlaczek's Classical Choir. This also means that Koji Kondo could have used Peter Siedlaczek's Advanced Orchestra for Ocarina of Time like he did in the Twilight Princess soundtrack.

The piano sample from Ocarina of Time might come from the Korg 01R/W, but I'm not sure.
