Another strange Roland-sounding sample by Xane123 at 5:14 PM EDT on June 11, 2017
Remember a long time ago when I originally signed up to ask about the Fantasia from the SC-88? Well, I've recently found a sample in a game that, years ago, confused me!

Basically, some songs in Harvest Moon DS sound like they're using Sound Canvas samples, as usual for video games, it seems! One song, LOVEEVENT1, has a strange sample in it I'd like to know about, this sample.

It sounds like the "synth vox" and "warm pad" instruments in a single sample. I wonder if they manually recorded both being played at the same time or if this is like the Fantasia, where it's a instrument that's only really on the SC-88 or a higher version.

(I write things like this because even though I could point at the Roland Sound Canvas samples, I could never tell if they're from the 55, 88, 88-pro, or whatever.)

That sounds like one of the voice samples from the Session expansion board found on a Roland JV-1010.
Here is something that sounds close to it. It might even be it but that recording might not have all of the key ranges.

These are also likely to be the same steel drums that were used in the Treasure Trove Cove music from Banjo-Kazooie, but I'm not completely sure.

I got a JV-1080 from ebay today, so I might find some new samples after I've bought a MIDI cable and set it up.
Maybe that could be it... by Xane123 at 6:35 PM EDT on June 14, 2017
@punk7890-2: Hmm...it does have similarities, with the voice+pad thing...not sure if the Harvest Moon DS sample is just compressed or something but it seems usually they sound pretty close. The sample I uploaded was the only one the game uses for that instrument.

Well, it's been a while since I brought this up, but I showed KORG themselves the sample of that drum kit I've been looking for, and they had this to say;

"The Trinity has insert effects that you can add to a drum track to get this type of sound."

I've asked them to see if they could add the Trinity to the Legacy Collection (which they haven't yet, to my knowledge), but I still need to see if it's worth it.

Now let me stress again that the only sound library I want you guys and gals to look through to find that drum kit before doing anything else is the KORG Trinity.

Here is "Against All Odds" again:

@XaikuTheMaverickHunter
That drum kit could be from the Korg Triton. Can of Nothing has one, so you could ask them.

@G-Boy

I also recommend to buy a aux cable as well.

@G-Boy
I don't mean to be rude here, but how do I ask Can of Nothing?
by G-Boy at 5:33 PM EDT on June 15, 2017
@XaikuTheMaverickHunter
You can ask them in this thread, but I think they're more likely to reply if you ask them on Discord.
