@starerik I tried. No reply.

@punk7890-2: Wow, that's news to me. Anything else in particular he's used from the Roland-L.A Composer Vol. 1?

@dkbk64: Is it confirmed he's used a M1? The piano sample from it is pretty famous and has made its way into a lot of other Korg samplers as well; while I don't think he's used it, a later revision of the 01/W also had it, if I recall correctly.

@RebeccaSugar that's what I figured. I listened to the gbamusriper version of mother 3 and while it is in higher quality than the GBA downgrade version it's still the same sound regardless, just without the GBA noise and from what users are saying here the game uses more soundbanks than I thought, per say if someone were to collect all and arrange them together and then run them through the midis it would probably sound like a console game rather than a handheld but just a guess.

@dkbk64 it's okay, he hasn't replied to anyone in months afaik.

@dj4uk6cjm funny you should mention that..

I lost automation when putting them together, but it sounds close enough for the amount of time i put on it. It's the midis ripped from the game, and a mix of the ripped instruments and Hypercanvas

@baggagelizard thanks for that little demonstration! :D it sounds better than I had imagined even if you used some of the ripped instruments like you said, the Hyper Canvas truly is amazing.

@Can of Nothing I'm not 100% sure but I believe the Piccolo Flute, Trumpet, Glockenspiel and the Oboe from OoT are on that disc. They sound awfully close. Hard to tell because the samples in OoT are compressed and have lost most quality quite a bit from their original form. I think a set of the alternate French Horns come from this CD also.

Also contains the Korg M1 Harp on there also. Kinda weird since its not from Roland.

Another thing thats really cool about this CD is that 90% of the samples on there are from other Roland modules (like the french horns from SC-88), but in 48Hz (SC-88 output is limited to 32000Hz)! Even have different samples based on velocity. I even spectro viewed them and they do indeed reach that resolution.

The SC-88 is limited to 32000Hz, but on the Smash Wii U thread, it was discovered there were some Melee songs @48000Hz that were not upsampled...?

Anyway, I'm still learning things about the SC-88 and finding out more games that use it as well (Mario Kart Super Circuit, Tales of Symphonia).

Once I get it, I'm going to spend some serious time redoing music from games that used it. Golden Sun will be my first priority because that game's music is so good. I am curious though, will SC-88 have the flute and bass from that game?

It most likely used interpolation which is a method of resampleing from my understanding. Basically what it would do in order to achieve 48Hz is mirror what was in the lower 16KHz shelf and copy that and put it above the 16KHz shelf. Hope that makes sense. I wouldn't worry about it anyway. Most workstations resample themselves anyway. Example would be if you're working with a SC-88 and save the wav to 44Hz. It would do what I described (it should).

@punk7890-2 Are you sure the Roland L.A Composer Vol. 1 is an Akai library? I've been trying to find more information about it to little success, and what I've found suggests it's a Roland S7xx library.
by punk7890-2 at 3:12 PM EST on January 14, 2015
Yeah it's a Roland S-7xx CD. Comes in 4 volumes.
