Used in the Half-Life 1 Soundtrack: "Nepal Monastery" for example. The HL1 soundtrack generally consists of lots of stock sounds. There must be more than this sample alone (at least 4).

I also heard it in a few documentaries, whenever a desert is involved. In one occasion, there was an additional effect added (a ring modulator or something equally distorting) but it's been a while so I can't really remember. It was that same sample, though.

I'd imagine it was used a lot. Half Life isn't where I heard it though.
There is 13 of them in total.

Best Service - Voice Spectral 1:

Track 21, Part 3: regularly used in Mischief Makers, most noticeable in the Lair/Lava theme

Track 81, Part 1: used in The New Tetris for the main part of the Pyramid theme. A short cutout of that same sample (near the end of it) is used in Ocarina of Time as Bongo Bongo's "singing" while he plays his … bongos. The sample is slowed down and plays at roughly 6700 Hz, thus sounds VERY bad on the N64 due to compression and interpolation but it's definitely that sample.

Track 99, Part 3: a very short cutout of that sample is regularly used in Mischief Makers in numerous songs.

Some other sounds like the OOT chants and the SM64 "bah" samples of that same Library were already mentioned earlier in this thread…

wow. Roland just released a "Sound Canvas for iOS" featuring sounds from SC-55, SC-88pro and more. May not have the same quality as the hardware, but should prove very useful for finding patches from games! :D

Wait, why aren't they releasing it as VST? I really want this for OS X.

@starerik I read through a google translated review that supposedly the reviewer asked if there would be a vst/au version, and roland said that it wasn't planned for now but was certainly possible.

Anyone know any of the instruments/samples in Quest 64?

@punk7890-2

That sample is used in quite a number of places in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. Where did it come from?
