Anyone happen to know where that choir comes from that plays in the first 10 seconds of this song in M&LSS?

@dj4uk6cjm There's plenty of ways of sampling a synth if you own it, though unless you pay a lot of attention to it the difference in quality would be noticable.
Mahito Yokota definitely owns more than one synthesizer, so it's likely that he used multiple for the Galaxies as well.

And yeah, that one - I don't think it's supposed to be an electric piano, though. I'm sure the sample was intentional to give the feeling of singing Bob-ombs, and even if it were an EP, Kondo would've simply used the other one in the game instead.

@punk7890-2 Is it Roland LA-Composer Vol. 1? You don't need to upload it if it is.

@dj4uk6cjm (again) Can't say I'm very good with choirs, sadly. It's in a bit too low quality, too, so I'm having trouble. I do know Shimomura has a Korg Trinity, though, and I think (don't quote me on this) I remember hearing a Roland in some of her stuff...

@Can of Nothing: I did hear some Roland Fantom instruments in Partners in Time, unless it shares plenty of soundfonts with others...

Hey guys, sorry about posting twice in a row. I found these samples from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario and I'm sorry if I'm annoying you (I've asked this before with no response, I'm guessing nobody has the answer) but I really am curious as to where they came from:

Unsurprising, but it looks like Super Mario 64 is mostly Korg M1 with some SC-55 interspersed throughout, plus the samples brought up before.

Has anyone found any Spirit Tracks samples?

The game has some of the best music and samples on the DS, IMHO.

Kondo used the Korg M1 for Super Mario 64? That's news to me. I've been doubting its involvement in the soundtrack lately (ironic, since I were the one who "proved" he used it for Yoshi's Island, before having the Akai Sound Library XL Vol.1 shown my way), though I may have heard something that sounds vaguely similar to one of the M1's famous patches. I think it was called Lore or something to that effect?

Would someone with Logic mind checking the factory EXS library for whistle samples? I'm trying to find where the one in Sunshine Seaside comes from.

The "fact" that Kondo is supposed to have ever used M1 is from guessing by ear... I posted a list of his gear which I marked down from a 1-Up interview (an interview which had pictures of his studio, which is now gone and seemingly was never archived) on VGMdb (in the sample thread), and M1 was not anywhere to be found. If you have proof, please provide it, don't re-iterate information that may be false.

I don't recall any SM64 samples being Korg M1 based. He mostly reused his OoT samples with a few extra.

Isn't it the other way around, punk7890-2? I thought Ocarina of Time was after Super Mario 64.
Either way, I recall little to no OoT instruments in Super Mario 64. Even all the instruments I remember that both games share use different samples, if I recall correctly.

And yes, I take my old claims about the M1 back. Again, everything I found off the M1 was probably from AKAI, and if not, I'll probably have to look more through the Roland LA-Composer library.

I do have to wonder what he's been using recently, though. I've yet to find anything he's used in his Super Mario Bros. Medley in Smash 4, for instance.
