Maybe you guys could add some kind of note (in the additional_files?) when they aren't originals or stuff?

Lord of Arcana I dl'd and found weird they weren't SQEX's SCD. So I reripped and yep. But any other odd format I wouldn't know, meaning any set could be the same.
Kurohyo I ripped for myself and added support a while back, so I was surprised.
Another example is Spiderman Web of Shadows (joshw = bad ss2, original = fsb), I'll try to think of more.

Plus, wading through literally hundred of weird XMA sets only to realize they weren't ripped ok wasn't fun times. ;_;

Are you talking about Kurohyou - Ryu ga Gotoku Shinshou? I just looked at it myself, CPK archive with SGB files containing AT3s. My version of VGMStream (just downloaded from your mirror, vgmstream-r1050-248-gb5e6808), doesn't seem to play the SGB files.

I think the FSB->SS2 is what aluigi's FSBext does for extraction. I'll reupload the set with original data, as I see they are playable in VGMStream, but do keep in mind this sort of conversion is done because most games have a single FSB archive with all music data, which, again, is(was?) unplayable by VGMStream.

I'll keep that remark about ripping notes in mind, but I have no plans on rechecking the existing sets, sorry. Anything you mention is wrongly ripped, I'll try to amend.

I'm sorry about your experience with x360 sets, although I have done zero of them - for most of archives I just upload and organize what other people provide.

So, according to bnnm a good rip is an literally untouched one. No wonder I have never revealed any of my rips in public, especially the entirety of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider trilogy(Xbox 360 version) in which these three games used the .mul format, or .emff as vgmstream calls it.

I wrote a quickBMS script based on that format alone, and it is not the same script I used when I ripped the Xbox 360 version of Deus Ex Human Revolution. It can be found here. Keep me informed in case someone here modifies the script.

@Knurek - My Kurohyo 1/2 rips play fine, both foobar and test, dunno. I'll try to upload later (they are kinda big).

To extract multi-FSBs I'd say a better solution would be a script that generates mini/single .FSB (keeps the header closest to the original, allowing me or others to fix bugs). I think I'll just do that.

(I hope you don't see my posts as angry criticism and blaming but happy improvement suggestions) :)

@AnonRunzes - For me a good rip is one I can be sure plays fine. Wasn't the case in the rips I pointed out!
I wanted to discuss this not really for myself (I can re-rip just fine), but for others.

@bnnm - Good to know! Sorry for the misunderstandings, I can see what you mean by now.

But anyway, regarding the script I posted on my previous post... the script depends on the xma_parse executable.

The thing is, I do think that xma_parse is getting redundant by now, what with vgmstream's XMA1/XMA2 support(thanks to a move in which it could depend on ffmpeg to run on said codecs) and all that.

What I'm saying is, do you think xma_parse should be kept as a dependency within the script or the script could've ran fine without it, therefore that dependency should be removed?

@bnnm: I would appreciate that FSB demuxing script, sure.
(Especially if you make it generate proper AT9 and OGG files as well :P)

As for Kurohyou, there are two file formats, things that are in USRDIR\stream (standard AT3 files, just with SGB extension, playable in any VGMStream version I tried), and the stuff in kurohyou.cpk->sound.cpk (SGB files, not playable by anything).
Thing is, the former are cutscene audio, with close to no music (and VGMStream still plays them as 44kHz), while the later are actual music files.
Here's some samples of the later: SGB. VGMStream plugin just doesn't play them, test.exe just states 'failed opening filename.sgb'

New Upload:

Haunted Maze (Net Yaroze)(1998)

I wanted to add this nearly a year ago, but registration appeared to be closed, and I did not have login info.

All songs seem to be from the public domain.

Also AOPSF in foobar seems to crash when playing these.

Also, FYI, broken still seems to be broken. Last time I checked was over a year ago. I had no way of letting you guys know and I've never found it anywhere else. It would be nice if it could get fixed.

@anyone familiar with psf

Around the same time, I was working on fixing some tracks in the Tomba! rip. A few tracks playback a different instrument in the psf than in game:

Title Screen and Village Of All Beginnings seem to have an issue with the percussion, hard to pin what-maybe a driver issue

33 Unknown (actually "Dwarf Forest Purified") has the wrong instrument in at least on channel (if memory serves). At the time I was trying to recreate the psf from scratch since the original ripper wasn't responding.

After reading a bit, maybe this isn't a rare issue. I was wondering if there were a tool or easy way of editing a minipsf, or of changing the instrument in psf. I had some success in hex editing, but ultimately gave up before trying to change the instrument set so each channel plays the right instrument. I'm not setup atm to work with this, but if it's not too difficult I might give it another try. I know nothing about minipsf and very little about psf-I just use Mark's generic driver.

Any tips or sources would be appreciated. All I had at the time were some of Neill Cortlet's texts from wayback (and VGMTRANS).

@bnnm and @Knurek

If we are talking about FSB5s, I've got two programs I wrote in C# for them, one of them splits a multi-file FSB5 into multiple single-file FSB5s, the other is meant for MP3-based FBS5s to remove the extra padding in those files so they will play properly with vgmstream. Both are up on my GitHub, called fsb5_split and fsb5_mpeg. As for FSB3s and FSB4s, hcs wrote similar tools.

@CyberBotX: Thanks, will look into them. Do you have a compiled executable somewhere?
