@Marcusss: you should be very careful with that "cutting unknown bytes from the beginning" routine and evade it whenever possible. If we suppose that given ISO / disc contents dump is good then we'd better wait a bit for that custom wrapper \ container to be implemented to plugin and add only original streams to our sets.
Not only it's actual policy here it's better to store initial audio files and let anyone who thinks it's necessary to delete those bytes from file start (if it prevents his player from playing the file that is) do such a thing. It doesn't necessarily mean I'm all for uploads of multi-stream XWB, FSB or RWS bigfiles as it was in the past (only those original banks were unplayable on multiple occasions) but preserving 1:1 data wherever possible should really save us lots of time (because we won't have to rerip those VGs later).

On that VITA PSARC issue: maybe this will help you unpack those *.psarc archives from PSV? I was directed to it by some XeNTaX user (in "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale" topic) and started using it recently. I've just tested it on a single (rather old) PS3 title though.

@Bnnm: This is my next pack of samples. I got a hold of another platform for Chronicles of Riddick you see.
Riddick PS3 MP3s were unpacked using the very same script (xwc.bms I also tested on X360 ver.) but more than 2/3 files (even stingers!) have audio glitch in the very end (probably beginning of the next stream or other unneeded data?). It actually sounds like split second start of the next track to me and possibly Syndicate PC BMS doesn't work flawlessly on XWCs from just any console. I might be wrong of course and it's up to coders & the most experienced rippers to find out if there's any trouble!

I reripped Afro samurai to re-obtain initial FSBs but this time I browsed through ps3.psarc with Total commander plugin (some command-line utility was used the last time I made a set for this title). Unfortunately quite a few *.fsb files (I upped all of them) have 2-3 seconds of junk sound in the end, is it fixable and streams themselves produce such an error? I can only hope extraction itself went smoothly & I won't have to re-unpack the bigfile with another program or piece of code...

@Bxaimc: "I like downloading every contribution and do a bit of auditing before it goes up".
That's the way to do it! I totally agree that's quite necessary and has to be done.

Hmm, I remember discovering text docs with ripper credits in numerous pretty old sets, is it allowed to add such files nowadays? Maybe someone wants to see his name mentioned there (accompanied by authors of scripts / tools used to extract / create streams)... Or was it allowed from the very start but users simply deemed it unnecessary?

BTW name of this set should be edited a little: "Crash Time 4 - The Syndicate (X360)(2012-01-24)(Synetic)(DTP Entertainment)" still has platform specified in its name although it's already been placed in the right section of JoshW.Info.

Also did "(!mov) Synetic.wma" from Crash time 4 play for you? I only included respective initial video, "(mov) Synetic.wmv", because WMA didn't play on my end, even in XMPlay, while Foobar played that WMV with ease.
In case you're wondering how I got all those *.wma tracks demuxed from vids (in Crash time #3-4 & 1 rips): I got WMV plugin for VirtualDub and it seems to work (but for some reason output is only playable with XMPlay) in most cases. When I used Stream editor from Windows Media Encoder 9 series resulting WMAs played in both foobar2000 & XMPlay but WME as well as wmstreamedt.exe stopped working on Win7 (I'm definitely not the only one to report this problem).
Well these *.wma streams produced by VD are still much better than VGMToolBox demultiplexed files (if you use ASF or WMV movie demuxer): the latter have never played for me as they're probably headerless.

Later guys!

Oh, thanks for let me know about the extraneous (X360). I’ll get rid of that later today. EDIT: fixed

And regarding the WMA file: I got rid of the original one with the ! Because I saw you included the movie file so I ran it through ffmpeg and demuxed a new wma from it. Try using ffmpeg in the future for these video files, it’s very handy and probably quicker (and probably more accurate) to use.

@BX: I'll try testing ffmpeg on any future WMVs then if this tool actually outputs WMAs compatible with both players I'm using on regular basis. I guess I can be sure that it creates legitimate 1:1 streams and not transcodes a thing?
Bye!

Since there's no "Asterix at the Olympic Games" rip, I've decided to go ahead and upload one. Some of it is in-game ambience. These .rws files don't loop, they just start playing from the beginning once they reach end. Ripped from the PC version of the game.

@Ultrafighter - Afro FSB glitches aren't a bug in vgmstream, tested vs FMOD's decoder. So they are like that, or Total Commander messed up (you could try some .psarc bms).
If a WMA doesn't play ok you can try renaming to .vgmstream, this ignores the player's decoder and uses vgmstream (via FFmpeg).
Riddick PS3 uses a header like X360, fixable I think.

@Bnnm: Thnx for that *.vgmstream hint, I totally forgot about such a feature although I've already encountered such files in your rips and not just once.

BTW there're PC sets available for both Riddick & Syndicate, maybe some Vorbis streams in XWC containers (?) can be found there? I guess you'd like to check out all existing platforms to make sure all's OK. It might help you completely understand that custom header you're about to implement.

Later!

Is Rock Band 4 rippable or not? It's not a request, just a question.
by bxaimc at 12:10 PM EST on January 20, 2018
It may or may not be possible in the end because of the MOGG encryption (if they're still using it, which is the reason why the other games haven't been ripped yet.)
