Super Mario 64 Midi's by dj4uk6cjm at 6:31 AM EDT on March 24, 2015
I bring to you the original Super Mario 64 Midi's (ripped) and if you're thinking they're the crappy SM64DS midis then think again, compare the Bob-omb Battlefield (Main Theme) from Super Mario 64 (N64) with the one from Super Mario 64 DS: CHIJOU courtesy of VGMTrans. Sound different don't they? It's because the midi notes are shorter and cut off faster than the Super Mario 64 midis. They're even different in size and if that is not enough evidence to convince you than open them in a DAW or something and visually look at the notes and listen to them yourself but either way the original Super Mario 64 midis will always be the best. :D

And if you need a soundfont you can use the great Super Mario 64 Soundfont provided by Tamkis or Damihacks version enjoy.

I have a question about the soundfonts... actually two.

The first thing... are the instruments assigned to the correct patch? That is, if an instrument in a MIDI is supposed to be a piano, and is assigned to, for example #034, then is #034 in the soundfont a piano?

The second thing...

Attack, Sustain, Decay, Release... and so on.... ?

IS it possible to upload the soundfonts to a host that isn't "having a problem or down for some quick maintenance, with a crack-team of media engineers working hard to get them back up and running"?

They're not automatic soundfonts ripped from the game but the samples are so they still work, you will have to map each sample to each midi track in your DAW or Synthfont to sound correctly. Not a true soundfont but the best we have to go with on the internet currently. Another way would be to edit and change the midi instruments that play in windows default Microsoft Synthesizer (in a DAW of course) to the corresponding patch which is very easy to do at least for me because I've dealt with these type of soundfonts before :P and foobar2000 helps with the ADSR effects with bassmidi installed and midi host synthesizer you can download on foobar site.

Also the mediafire links are working again.

I only ever use foobar2000 and BASSMIDI for soundfonts.... I'm not too bothered about having to manually select instruments... just as long as percussion instruments work OK.

Fuck it... it's too hard. Most of the soundfonts are out of tune, and then you get that really awkward point where the actual pitch is between two semitones. More so, where the fuck is the "donk" part of the tabla in Lethal Lava Land?

In short, I'm lazy. Can someone somehow get the MIDIs to play with the correct instruments at the correct pitch, and maybe either upload MP3s converted from them or the MIDI files themselves that have been adjusted to play the correct instruments at the correct lazy.

Hot dang, thanks. These are going to be handy as all heck considering remaking the soundtrack's been basically all I've been up to lately.
I'm not very good at dealing with N64 ripping, so I've been relying on the DS version - this changes that for sure.

And this is why I use the Super Mario 64 Soundfont by "Pablo's Corner"
He actually got the pitches correct, and he looped them.

^ does it pair with the original SM64 midi rips though? By that I mean automatically mapped, I haven't tested it out yet but I'll give it a go soon as it looks like he released the soundfont this year.

I've downloaded that soundfont and I like to use it myself, but I noticed that the drums are somewhat off. The snare isn't exactly the same as the one used in-game and some of the bongos are a bit off. I actually tried ripping a soundfont from the rom myself but I can't seem to get it right.
