Question about Super Mario Sunshine by KDDLB at 11:18 PM EST on December 24, 2017
First of all, Happy Holidays!
I was just wondering if there’s a way to rip music from Super Mario Sunshine. I know it is sequenced music; also I would like to know if there’s a way to convert the sequences to MIDI.
I had once suggested something based on ripping DSP code for the GC and Wii systems, to support playing back sequences using minimal native code emulated by a player. I'm not sure how much this is or isn't like USF or GSF, since both of those use software synthesis, and USF uses a coprocessor with SIMD instructions for mixing and processing the audio.
I'm sure something is possible, since MP3s of all the music without SFX exist in varying places.
Such a feature would greatly benefit for not just Sunshine, but other games like Twilight Princess, Mario Party 4, Star Fox Adventures and WarioWare to name a few.
I’m assuming it’s just unpacking the ISO/GCM, replace some sfx bank data with zeroes, repack the game and run it through dolphin or a softmodded GC/Wii/Wii U and record it.
