How I Spend My Time by hcs at 8:01 PM EDT on May 24, 2005
I'm running through my video game music collection, checking it for integrity as follows:

1. if it has an sfv/md5/par use that
2. run through wimpck to check for sync errors, etc.
3. lookup on freedb w/ mediatagger, otherwise check track number and lengths

I have over 2,000 official albums at this point, I might be here a while...

(blah)

Do you have the soundtrack for elemental gimmick gear which is a dreamcast game? I cannot find it anywhere and it had some great music...

For some reason it sounds awfully familiar... but I can't find it in my archive.

Check out the vgmcentral.no-ip.com DC hub, I see a few people sharing it there, but you'll have to wait...

Hey, thanks for pointing out the wimpck tool, I've been looking for a tool like that for some time. So, you're a game music nut as well? Hehe.

wimpck by hcs at 8:29 AM EDT on May 25, 2005
Yeah, I've bee using encspot for a while for the purpose of checking MP3s and discovering the encoder, but mpck is much more useful (does CRCs automagically, for example) for checking and I recently heard of a program called oidua for encoder analysis so encspot may be on the way out.

I spent a few hours today writing an administrative system for the database-driven music archive I'm working on for Zophar's Domain. Next I'll do the same for the emulator database that I've started so we can start moving the vast HTML-tables into it.

I'm thinking of keeping this as a running journal of sorts, let's see how that works out.

I cannot connect to the database because: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'halleyscometsoftware.com' (101)

Yeah, I haven't integrated it into the ZD MySQL server yet, it's still running off my database here, so it times out connecting on occasion.

Crap, I got the devkit sequence player to compile and run but then I changed something and it hasn't worked since.
