80 GB PS3 was new this Christmas. It no longer can play Blu-ray movies.

I'm sick of Sony's half-assed products with shitty drives. Every single one of my Playstations' drives (each generation) has failed. Microsoft isn't any better.

Next-gen sucks.

funny.....all my next gen consoles are at least almost 3 years old and are still working perfectly

I'm as careful with my consoles and discs as anybody.

Though, it does happen. Look at the x360's crap drive that rattles when it operates.

Unkillable GCN ftw
by bxaimc at 6:03 PM EDT on July 28, 2009
Yet the GCN didn't make it to the 7th Gen era....

I wasn't talking about 7th gen, you were...

my experiences:
nintendo 64: 11 years old and only the cpu fan is rattling probably for being dusty. Only froze because of action replay, 3rd party controller+controller pak or particular game bugs. Transfer pak is unstable.
playstation 2: froze a few times and i have to be careful with the Soul Calibur III PAL save-file bug . Controller is malfuctioning lil' bit.
xbox: if i ignore morrowind crashes seems to have disc read errors a lot. Could read audio cd-rw's, not cd-r's, but can't do that anymore.
xbox 360: so many disc reading errors. I moved the box further away from the subwoofer and the reading errors are less common. This has often to do with the layout of files on the disc and how the game reads them that he needs to move the disc laser all the time which he doesn't like. Still got a few hard crashes even on xbox live arcade games.
gamecube: no issues besides about 2 crashes. I don't use it much anymore since i can play it on the wii.
wii: many disc read errors, especially with Super Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Makes a lot of noise when reading discs.

Er, N64 CPU fan?
You don't happen to live in a lint trap, do you?

Is this subwoofer proximity thing more than just a myth? Do the magnets really screw up your junk? How close?
