help with Sonic 3 angel island revisited by threeblacknoises at 8:53 AM EDT on August 20, 2022
Hay all.
I just found out about this game and wanted to extract the remastered music from it.
I can't run the game as it requires the steam version of the s3k rom that can't be bought do to sonic origins.
The data folder of angel island revisited (AIR for short) has an audioremaster.bin file that's pretty big, so I'm pretty sure this is what I'm looking for.
There should also be a jsn file in said bin with loopstart tags, so renaming the ogg files and using mp3 tag to add said tag shouldn't be to difficult.
Sonic 3 AIR can be freely downloaded from https://sonic3air.org
The preview build from May of this year has the most up-to-date version of the audioremaster.bin file I need help with.
I just need extraction help. Thanks to any who can help, as the remastered music is all I'm interested in, and I already have Origins for ps4 and have already got the platinum trophy.
If a tool exists for extracting bin files, please point me to it, and I'll see what I can do first before asking for more help.
Thanks in advance.

You can use VGMToolbox to extract the OGGs: goto Misc Tools > Extraction Tools > Streams > Xiph org OGG extractor

Drag the BIN file into the application window. It creates a new folder where the BIN file is located. You find the extracted OGGs there.
still need help... sorry by threeblacknoises at 7:13 PM EDT on August 20, 2022
Okay, here's where I need help.
I didn't mention this before, but I'm visually impaired.
The reason this comes into play is because Microsoft decided that starting from windows 8, blind users can no longer drag and drop.
I can't use a mouse, and my screen reader; as I just said can no longer drag and drop items unless they do not leave the window they reside in.
So dragging the file is impossible despite the commands still existing within the screen reader.
Just for kicks, I downloaded vgm toolbox and the sonic3air game and extracted the audioremaster.bin file.
And, it didn't work.
If this game had existed back before windows 7 bit the dust this would be no problem for me.
So, could someone please attempt to extract said bin file for me?
To get the file, go to sonic3air.org and download the preview build of the game.
Extract it and look in the data folder for a file called audioremaster.bin.
That's for sure what I'm looking for.
according to the mods documentation, the game only uses ogg files, so that's what the bin file should contain, along with a jsn file with all of the loop info.
mp3 tag should be able to add the loopstart tag from the jsn file to each ogg file, and vgmstream should take care of the rest.
The files can be uploaded anywhere, mega, google drive, dropbox, take your pick.
As long as I get the ogg files, I should be able to do the rest myself.
If attempts to extract the bin file fail, well, it was worth the try anyway, and thanks to anyone who makes the attempt.

Extracted OGGs
That's exactly what I needed! by threeblacknoises at 2:52 AM EDT on August 21, 2022
Thanks so vary much for your help!
Now I can take it from here.
Once I get all the looping sorted out, I'll upload the files to joshw for all to enjoy.
