Ideas for custom Foobar2000 styles n' themes by Katsur at 4:12 AM EST on November 14, 2024
The original graphical user interface of foobar2000 looked blank at best, but boring and generic at worst. So I googled some custom foobar2000 skins and themes and surfed through Russian foobar2000 and Hydrogenaud forums regarding custom themes for Foobar2000. Most of these skins and' themes are outdated, and I'm afraid that there is no support for 64-bit foobar2000
Why am I saying all of this? It's because I'm very tired of installing multiple components (including VGMStream) one-by-one after installing a specific theme that requires dragging that "foobar2k-v2" folder to replace already-existing one. And that's burdensome, uncomfortable, tedious, unfun.
In the end, do you guys have any ideas about custom themes/skins (or both) with VGMStream (and other VGM playback component) on foobar2000? This would be fun.
I wouldn't recommend using other peoples themes with foobar2000, personally. With a modular media player like this the whole idea is creating a bespoke experience that suits your particular needs. And unfortunately there isn't any quickfix for this. Better to just ape code from other themes or code shared on their forums for bits and pieces as you require, and patch together something of your own.
I can certainly recommend Columns UI as a starting point though. I made this neon eyesore with it. Wouldn't be very useful to anyone but me (I mean, just look at it!) But I'd happily share bits of code if needed.
Oh and yeah, definnitely stick to 32-bit if you're concerned about compatibility with components.
Lunar, it actually looks good! Columns UI is a neat part too! You can make a new preset for 64-bit Foobar2000 like this neon 'eyesore' from scratch; that would be fun :)
I'm not comfortable sharing it carteblanche, sorry - it is very bespoke to my own usage. But as aforementioned I am happy to share bits of code or answer any questions if there's anything in there that is appealing.
