I was half joking. What if the CD isn't an EXACT 1:1 copy?

Found the free Beyond Good and Evil Soundtrack:

It sucks. It's scratchy, as if they merely upsampled the in-game audio and released it as MP3s. Cutscenes also contain voices.

The audio files used by the game sound much better.

Hm, that may not work too well if the CD is not burned with Write offset correction.

marcusss, I'm going to make an assumption here and say that the proper Read offset correction for your drive is +102. The reason for my saying this is based on the fact that most manufactures try to keep the same offset for a particular model, and according to the AccurateRip website, all of the models that are similar to yours have the same offset correction of +102. Setting up with Key Discs (should use factory-labeled CDs) may confirm this or contradict it, but if you are able to find out for sure what the proper Read offset correction for your drive is, I can help you set EAC to make use of AccurateRip without the need for Key Discs.

I'll give it a go and see.. if the offset is wrong does it affect audio ? I never played around with offset options. I'll try to get a cd in the list or just try the offset and see how it goes :D

Thanks for your help.

It should play fine, but will have different CRC then a proper rip, so you can't easily check for errors in the extraction.

I see.. Thanks for the explanation Knurek :D

And CyberSpark.. yes from looking at those offsets and models it would seem that mine is most likely the same offset :)

Thank you for the CDs!

I wonder how Final Fantasy VI and old game soundtracks in general were recorded. If you listen to the OST, the only difference between it and the SPC set (in mudlord's new MGME) is slightly more bass and possibly some analogue recording hiss when playing at high volumes for the OST.

I wonder how Nobuo Uematsu produced the music. Synth? He probably tosses his compositions at some other people who convert it into game format. I wonder what Uematsu's originals are like (he had to have heard his work beforehand somehow.)
