MegaMan Anniversary (PS2) by MarkGrass at 11:24 PM EST on February 7, 2008
This app will extract AUS audio from the PS2 version of MegaMan Anniversary Collection. I wouldn't have even bothered, but IIRC the PS2 version has music that the GCN version doesn't.

AUS audio seems to be a commonly used PS2 audio stream-type with a (seemingly) simple header.

Yes from what I remember the PS2 version remixed/redid some of the game sound-tracks... The Game Cube versions were just given the original tracks only, probably for space restrictions.

Yeah, because Atomic Planet is/was a bunch of morons who had no idea how to port a game (or port a port of a game, as the case may be).

Awesome, Mark! Easy to use too, always a plus.

Now yet another noobish question, which is very characteristic of yours truly: How do I open up and use .AUS files? I don't have to be Australian, do I? ;-P
by MarkGrass at 11:12 AM EST on February 12, 2008
As of right now, there is now way to playback AUS files, via conventional methods (in_cube, etc.)

I made this MMAC AUS extractor with the hopes someone here that's talented enough would add AUS compatability to in_cube, since nothing I seem to do will make in_cube compile properly on my PC.

It's possible I have a bugged version of Visual 2005, thoguh I really don't see how (everything else I work on compiles).

Hmmm...is there a way to convert them to a more listenable format then? WAV? MP3?
by MarkGrass at 2:58 PM EST on February 12, 2008
I'm sorry to say that since I lack the ability to compile in_cube, I haven't even bothered to check the format out.

I can tell you, though, that the audio itsself always starts at offset 0x800. I haven't tried to figure out the Hz rate, etc.

For some reason I couldn't edit my post above(?), but anyways, here's an AUS2VAG converter, source code included.

AUS2VAG

Also, Aussie, the app I made to extract AUS audio from MMAC has moved to:

Aussie

Well, at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot...how do I use it? I've downloaded it, but whenever I open it, a small black box appears for a fraction of a second and then immediately disappears again. I tried this in Program Files as well as the same folder where the AIF files are and where the AUS files are.

Sorry if I'm pestering you with questions. I'm just completely new to this game extraction stuff and sometimes think I need a dummy's guide. =P

Download this BAT archive Here.

After you have extracted all the AUS audio, place each corresponding BAT file in it's proper folder, along with AUS2VAG.EXE. Afterwards, simply open DATA*.BAT and it will convert all the audio for you.

This is a command line app, the batch files I am providing will help those who aren't familiar with using DOS Prompt.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, this program isn't perfect by no means, but it does get the job done. I must also mention that the AUS audio in DATA7, DATA9 and DATA10 isn't like regular PS2 VAG, playback is slightly corrupt.

The main problem is that it's making the VAG "report" that it has more samples than it should. This is easily fixed, expect an update for AUS2VAG.
