I am now back to NES music composing after discovering how MML works.

A simple C-major scale on the VRC7

coming soon: mame with vgm logging by unknownfile at 6:03 PM EDT on May 2, 2007
Thanks to good ol' boredom, I will be trying to write a MAME logger in my spare time to log data from the YM2413, and later to convert it over to standard VGM. If I fail, well... no surprise there ;D
by marioman at 7:48 PM EDT on May 2, 2007
I have been meaning to ask, how is the MSF development going? Not much has been said about it lately. I would like to see it come to pass. It would probably end up being a total replacement for M1.
Coursework by PokeParadox at 8:49 PM EDT on May 2, 2007
I have AI coursework due tomorrow... and it's already alost 2AM in the morning and it's not looking likely this is going to be finished on time >_>
by unknownfile at 9:25 PM EDT on May 2, 2007
MSF? ask josh

Also, going through the YM2413 (OPLL) and YM2151 cores, there's a CYM logger implemented in there that is pretty buggy and doesn't work with the OPLL chip. It is ifdef'd out by default, so adding the definition will spit out a CYM each time a YM2413/YM2151 file is logged.

test? test!
introducing HIVE by unknownfile at 2:41 PM EDT on May 3, 2007
HIVE is a little chat protocol that I have been working on in my computer class. As it stands it is somewhat between email and IRC. Due to its nature, it only connects to the server when it needs to do something (which theoretically saves resources).

The HIVE server itself is called beeswax, and has been under development for some time now. Today, I managed to get it to deliver its first message.

Without further ado, I proudly present:

Beeswax build 214

Hopefully someone finds a use for this rubbish. It's pretty incomplete as it stands, but it'll be expanded in the future.

This is my second network project so far. Yippeee!

Time to count the crap....

-GBA SP (with FlashAdvance)
-Gamecube
-PSOne (with screen, probably unmodded)
-SNES (with copier)
-iPod
-Gigabeat
-Generic Laptop o' Doom
-Generic Desktop o' Doom
-Random calculator
-N64 (with gameshark and Doctor V64 Jr

Yeesh. Too much stuff.

Also, I am going to get back into Famicom collecting. I hope to get some crap by the end of the summer with the allowance and rubbish I get.

Stuff I'm looking for:

- Disk System (I've been wanting to play my FDS Zelda)
- The VRC6 suite (Akumajou Densetsu, Madara, Esper Dream II)
- Lagrange Point (VRC7)
- Gimmick! (FME-7)
- Mother (aka Earthbound Zero)

And this time around I am not planning on smashing the chips apart for their components, otherwise my VRC6 would still be inside of the Akumajou Densetsu cart (now destroyed).

Now excuse me, I need to be going home (I typed this at school).

Da specs, in all their glory.
by unknownfile at 10:46 AM EDT on May 11, 2007
Woupii, largest thread here.

ALSO: Lagrange Point has been ordered, I just need to pay for it and it'll be on its way.

ALSO ALSO: Speaking of LP, I'm doing a TAS of it. Rerecord as of now stands at around 600 (it's damn annoying to manipulate the battle generator).

ALSO ALSO ALSO: The AeonGenesis LP translation has made some progress. Here's the complete opening text (with additions by me in bold):

"In the 22nd century, mankind has begun to emigrate into space. Constructed at a lagrange point were three huge colonies: Land 1, Land 2 and a Sattelite Base - the Isis cluster. In the year Isis 0024, however, a biohazard outbreak occured on Land 2. All attempts at contact were met with naught but static. Now a research team lead by Jean/Jin approaches Land 1."

... and it's now paid for

new project! by unknownfile at 9:54 AM EDT on May 15, 2007
Due to utter boredom and due to the suckiness of the existing ones, I'm considering doing some research into the wonderful world of NES copiers.

Possible design as I have thought of so far would have:

- an audio controller, with a six-bit controller for chip emulation (VRC6 and VRC7 will be attached to a post-processing circuit)
- an MMC emulator, handling bank-switching and the audio controller, with 500 kb ROM space for programming
- 4 ROM chips containing 500 kb of data (totalling around 2 mb of data)
- a parallel port for PC programming to ROM
- iNES and UNIF emulation

To avoid wasting time with converters, the prototype may just be soldered onto the NES board with the cartridge connector added onto the end of the expansion board.

All the code is out there, so I can just port it over to VHDL or whatever.

Comments?

PS: Lagrange Point = shipped

Ah yes, how fun boredom is:

// this is spartaaaaaaa simulator
// by uf

#include "stdafx.h"
#include <windows.h>

int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
    printf("THIS\n");
    Sleep(600);
    printf("IS\n");
    Sleep(300);
    printf("SPARTA");
    while(1) {
        printf("A");
        Sleep(10);
    }
    return 0;
}
More fun with Lagrange Point... by unknownfile at 11:54 AM EDT on May 25, 2007

Why not just continue to develop MSF instead? MSF development would be better because it has tags, timers, etc.
by unknownfile at 4:12 PM EDT on July 3, 2007
it's because the way msf is designed is that it will only work on windows, read the specs about it.

also, modifying encrypted roms is annoying.
by marioman at 9:20 PM EDT on July 3, 2007
Aha! So that's it. I was wondering why you would get a format in development, and then switch your attention to another similar format. It seems that MSF needs a little adjustment to be made before it can be developed further.

Anyways, I would like to see it completed though.

This is just a place to store some links, before they expire... I'm away from my PC right now, so I needed a place to store these until I can get back... Feel free to check these links if you'd like, but they're mostly download links for videos from E3 (I think), hosted at gamevideos.com

Megaman ZX Advent
FFXI Trailer (new expansion0
FFXII Revenant Wings Trailer
Beautiful Katamari Trailer
Front Mission
Star Wars: The Force Unleased (No download link)

Dragon Quest Swords "Knight Battle
Dragon Quest Swords "Intro"
Donkey Kong DS
Super Mario Galaxy "Puzzles"
Super Mario Galaxy "Bee Suit"
Dragon Quest Swords "Shield"
Dragon Quest Swords "Balcony"
Dragon Quest Swords "Tower"

Metal Gear Solid 4
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy (Bunny chase)
1UP Show "Rating the conferences"
Wii Fit (No download link)
Wii Fit "Demo"
Wii Zapper
Metroid Prime 3 "Demo" (I have this one reserved at Gamestop. I hope it's worth it.)

Mario Strikers
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Wii Media hype (I guess that's what it is...)

LEGO Goomba (No download link. And, I'm a LEGO fan, so I wanted to take a look.)
LEGO Link (No download link.)

The last 2 are available on Youtube, but it's easier to provide the links above, than to hunt down the specific youtube links (I'm in a hurry). Also, you're welcome to check those links out, if you really want to, but most of them are download links. It's easier for me to download it, then delete it, than it is for me to stream it... So I usually opt for the download links if they're available.

If you have something to say about the above links, you're welcome to do so. Even so, I'll probably download them anyway to form my own opinion. Of course, you're also welcome to completely ignore this post, and pretend it doesn't exist. As I said, this is here, since it's easier to post the links here, than it is to send them to my PC...

Anyway, Mouser X over and out.

Zelda Phantom Hourglass "Boss 8" (Same as above, for #8, I assume)
Ratchet and Clank "E3 City Escape"
Super Mario Galaxies "E3 Levels"
Mass Effect "Conversation" (It says it's not suitable for ages 18 and under... Langauge? I doubt it's violence...)
Mass Effect "Galaxy Map"

LEGO Mario (No download link. Youtube link available.)
LEGO Kriby (Same as above)

Hopefully I won't need to do this stuff anymore... Meaning, if all goes well, I'll be back tomorrow afternoon, or something. Mouser X over and out.

I just finished reading through the "Winamp 5.36 beta" thread (at Winamp's Forums), and someone said that 64th Note is incompatible with 5.36 (it crashes on Winamp startup). Can anyone confirm this? I don't have a PC, or else I would have tried.

Due to the fact that 5.36 is still in 'beta,' is this even currently a concern? I just thought I should bring this up, in case it does turn out to be important. There is probably other things I wanted to ask/mention, but I don't remember them right now (and they were probably unrelated to 64th Note, or this site).

Also, sorry for posting this in the wrong thread. Since I'm using the Wii, I can't copy/paste. And, I had already gotten well into the message by the time I realized it was out of place... Mouser X over and out.

WooHoo! Metroid Prime 3 shipped today. I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I read the Wikipedia article, and it linked to some reviews. So far, it sounds awesome, and better (in most, if not all, ways) than MP1 or MP2. I'm greatly looking forward to it.

Considering this is coming out, I think I have found the first positive thing about my PC dieing. Now, I'll have lots of time to play MP3. I wonder how long it will take for the MP3s of MP3 to be put online... Hopefully, it'll be much faster than Zelda12: TP is going...

Elections are coming up in Ontario, and in an attempt to get community service hours, I will be supporting the local district's MPP.

!!! WARNING: USELESS INFORMATION AHEAD !!!

Also, for those who don't know how the Canadian political system works, here's a brief summary. Each region of Canada is split up into a district which handles small bits of population (about 35,000 people per district). In this area are two representatives to two governments - MPs (Member of Parliament) who represent the district at the federal level, and the MPPs (Member of Provincial Parliament) who represent the district at the provincial level. When elections occur, the representative who earns the most votes is able to cast a vote in favor of a possible candidate for leadership in the election. I'm guessing this is somewhat different from the US political system.

!!! THAT IS ALL, ENJOY YOUR DAY !!!

Homework has started flowing in at a steady pace as well, so I will need to start work on a lot of it soon.

Unfortunately unlike it's predecessor, A Fire Upon the Deep (which I read just last week), it doesn't start off with "UNSPEAKABLE ANCIENT HORROR UNLEASHED STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS" in the first ten pages. Seems to drag a bit, and the really interesting character isn't doing anything yet. It was Deepness that led me to look at both, but someone suggested that I read them in publication order. Not that anyone really cares, but has anyone looked at the GameFAQs Character Battle today? Who did I tell you was going to win?

Personally, I do not really think that L-Block deserves the title of Best Character Ever, but it feels good to see a 1980's icon beat out Cloud Strife.

I still can't figure out how on earth a Tetris piece is being voted through the Character Battle, but I suspect that some groups are mass-voting to push it through. Or better yet, maybe it is a Soviet plot. I can just see it now - GameFAQs: The New Communism.

the obvious by unknownfile at 7:01 PM EST on November 4, 2007
Cloud Strife is a gay homosexual who has ruined video gaming with a swarm of fangirls and fanboys. Sephiroth is even worse. In fact, all of Final Fantasy 7's characters blow ass.

tunnan music by unknownfile at 11:50 AM EST on December 12, 2007
Over the last few days, I've been uploading Tunnan's complete discography. I still have a few more albums to go, but here's what I have so far:

T&M - 100% Homo
T&M - Rov Rovarna
T&M - Bajs i Bastun
Tommy & Danne - Gammalt Skit 1

I have a couple more albums to upload including Live Svajklubb, so stay tuned.

PS: Anything past Bajs i Bastun is usually good in terms of quality. Anything before it is utter crap.

i have received the proposed schedule for the japanese crap during the summer. id say it's somewhat of a crap schedule thus far considering that you don't see important sites (hiroshima etc), but you can't always get what you want

the schedule

might i also add, that the guy who wrote this sucks a bit with english

If you use the phrase "100% Homo" I expect at least one instance of cock used.

There's a new homebrew N64 game, Funnelcube, which is pretty cool. I finished my exams today, so I set up the ol' N64 and Dr. V64 jr in the lounge with the big TV and checked it out.

When I grew tired of that I spent an hour remembering how to use Neon64 and then played Earthbound Zero for a while.

nice big flat screen. Now I wish to see high res games on it, or something like RE on the GC, PS2.

It looks nice!

Getting together with family for xmas. Is xmas a feeling or does one make it happen? hmm...

Not familiar with that one, but since it's katakana I assume it's on loan from English...

Flawless? Not quite.
uf isp by unknownfile at 12:56 PM EST on January 9, 2008
I just received a good talk from my music teacher, who launched into a rant about stuff. The tl;dr version of it is that we're paying all this money to the entertainment industry for hardware etc, but they're going BAWWW BAWW YOU WONT BUY CDS BAWWW.

He also mentioned the raising of internets prices. According to him prices went like so:

$9 in 1985 14.4 baud (probably through BBSes, usenet etc)
$19 for 28.8 baud
$29 for 48 baud
$39 for highspeed

Why would they bother upping the prices, was his question. This inspired me to think about starting my own ISP which would use either fibre or wireless.

The only materials I have in the area are thus:
- Phone lines (not too easy)
- Fibre (not so easy)
- Coaxial (need another cable modem)

Yes, this would be illegal. But it would be awesome.
